Rest in Peace, Billy Mays

We at ItsGoodStuff are saddened by the untimely death of Billy Mays. This pitchman extraordinaire, with his slicked-back hair, beard and thunderclap voice announcing, “Hi! Billy Mays here!” was one of the most familiar voices on American television, and we’re going to miss him.

From hawking merchandise on the Atlantic City boardwalk in the 80s, to television and the call-this-number-and-buy-it-now style of marketing known as direct response, Billy’s enthusiasm propelled numerous products from direct-response to retail shelves -- in deafening two-minute television spots.

Whether you were a fan or not, you have to admit that he was entertaining. There was very little he wouldn’t do, with a high level of urgency, to promote products he believed in. Through the years, Billy May’s reputation became that of sincerity and boundless enthusiasm. And, he was passionate! Apparently, these were the qualities that placed him into the upper echelon of TV pitchmen. We do admit he was from the yell-and-sell school - but it worked.

We are proud to have been affiliated with Billy Mays, if in a small way, through products we continue to endorse here at ItsGoodStuff.comWhat Odor?Zorbeez, Simoniz Liquid Diamond and Simoniz Fix It.

Rest in peace, Billy Mays. We’ll miss you.
