Relive the Swinging 60s!

buy pop memories of the 60sWe’re not sure what “the good old days” are. Certainly, that phrase conjures up different memories for different people. Whether you consider the decade of the 1960s “good old days” or years of regret, you have to admit one thing: the Swinging Sixties represented an age never before seen and never repeated.

And the 1960s produced an era of music that will live with us forever. That is why we love, love, love the incredible collection put together by the folks at Time Life. Pop Memories of the 60s is a 10 CD presentation of no less than 160 songs including love lyrics and pop offerings. Lovers will remember where they were when they first heart Bobby Vinton’s “Blue Velvet.” Some couple somewhere will blush with their memory link to Henry Mancini’s “Moon River.”

But we all know the 1960s were not all about love and sweetness. There was drug use and changing cultural values, There were the assassinations, John and Bobby Kennedy, and Martin Luther King. There was the growing protest of the Viet Nam War which resulted in the signature anti-war song, “Where Have All The Flowers Gone” which is also offered in this collection.

They were days, for sure, that bring back fond nostalgia. Can you imagine a minimum wage of $1 per hour? How about gasoline at 31 cents a gallon or average incomes around the $5,000 per year level? They were days of significant political upheaval and an angry confrontation between protestor and establishment. All of these emotions are reflected in its music, and Time Life’s Pop Memories of the Sixties is a collection that truly captures the decade.
