One of the Best of 2008...Without a Doubt

One of the most highly praised motion pictures of the year, Doubt is based on a Pulitzer Prize winning play by the same name. It is a suspense-filled drama with mesmerizing performances by Meryl Streep, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Amy Adams and Viola Davis. This is a movie for thinking adults and the amazing script presents several subtle messages.

In the very first scene, the rigid Sister Aloysius Beauvier (Streep) invokes terror in the little kids attending Father Flynn's  (Hoffman) sermons, and from there you know it’s going to be a fascinating, bumpy ride. Sister Aloysius, the non-nonsense principal of Saint Nicholas Church School, bears an unexplicable loathing of Father Flynn, the well-liked and progressive parish priest. Seeking evidence of misconduct everywhere, Sister Aloysius believes she's uncovered the ultimate sin when she is told that Father Flynn has taken a special interest in a troubled boy. There is no proof, and the only thing certain is…you got it - doubt.

If you’re looking for light-hearted entertainment, this is probably not the movie for you. However, if you want to see one of the best movies of 2008, then don’t miss it! It is now available on DVD, and you will love it…of that, we have no doubt.
