Kindle DX - It Just Keeps Getting Better

Maybe you’ve heard that Amazon’s third incarnation of the Kindle is on its way and it’s pretty pricey. Amazon is expecting a run on this hot product as soon as it’s released in the summer and is recommending customers pre-order the Kindle DX now. If you care, and can part with $489 for an electronic reading device, here’s why you might actually consider it:

Kindle DX is slim, just over 1/3 of an inch, as thin as most magazines. It’s lightweight, 10.2 oz., lighter than a typical paperback. And it’s wireless so you can download books right from your Kindle, anytime, anywhere -- with no monthly fees, service plans or hunting for Wi-Fi hotspots.

It comes with a 2-1/2 times larger, auto-rotating screen for reading newspapers, maps and long forms. It supports PDF files fully with a native PDF reader. Its storage capacity jumps from 1,500 to 3,500 books, periodicals and documents. The improved display reads like real paper, with clearer text and crisper images and the Kindle DX boasts longer battery life – you can read for days without recharging. You can also turn pages 20% faster with the new Kindle DX.

With its new text-to-speech feature, Kindle can read newspapers, magazines, blogs and books out loud to you, in a voice that you choose. Reading selection is huge – more than 275,000 books -- plus newspapers, magazines and blogs. And no judging a book by its cover -- Kindle lets you download and read first chapters for free.

Sounds great, doesn’t it? But, is it worth the money? We say absolutely!
