Do You Duvet?

To Europeans and Canadians, a duvet is a fluffy down comforter, but when Americans say “duvet,” it usually means a cover for that comforter. For some reason, we hadn’t paid much attention to duvets or their covers until recently, but the versatility, economy, convenience -- and all the great new styles -- of duvet covers have recently put them on top of the “Our Favorites” list at ItsGoodStuff.

A duvet cover can be a bright, new protective, very decorative slipcover for your worn out old comforter (or any quilt or blanket). There’s an open end -- usually secured with buttons, ties or a zipper – for ease of stuffing. Unlike down comforters and many quilts that must be dry-cleaned, most duvet covers are lightweight and washable. You just toss them in the laundry with the sheets and pillowcases. The comforter inside stays protected and remains fresh and clean. Replacing a duvet cover (relatively inexpensive) changes the entire feel of a room without massive redecorating or spending hundreds on a new comforter or plush bedspread. A gorgeous duvet cover can hide all kinds of ugly! If you like, the duvet can be the ONLY cover for your bed – taking the place of blankets, quilts and top sheet.

And an added bonus for you – kids love duvets because making their own beds becomes a total breeze! ?
