Clutter Busting!

There have been a ton of hopeful clutter-controlling books published over the years, but we found Brooks Palmer's new book, Clutter Busting: Letting Go of What's Holding You Back, to be the best of the best so far.

You likely know if you have a problem with organization. For instance: Do you continue to acquire things that you quickly tire of and have no more room for? This book will change the way you think about your home, the people closest to you, and life in general. The premise -- if something doesn’t add value to your life, it’s probably clutter – can be shocking. You’ll find that this book does not instruct the tired, old “get four boxes, one for keeping, one for charity . . .” And you’re not advised to buy huge plastic containers for your stuff, because you’re getting rid of that stuff, not hiding it in expensive trash cans. You’ll find help here for examining the mental and emotional aspects of clutter, and the ability to correctly identify it as . . . clutter. As you read, your perspective will begin to change from thinking you might possibly need that sack full of gadgets in the future, to realizing it’s just today's clutter, and it will still be tomorrow’s clutter -- and being able to toss it without blinking an eye. More than getting organized, this book is about freeing yourself.

One word of caution about reading this book: If it didn’t before, the clutter-rich behavior of close friends and family members may begin to wear on you, and you could find yourself strangely volunteering to help them get started on the program. Please feel free pass this book along to them when you are done, and play it forward to freeing the entire world of clutter!
