Be Prepared with Quicken WillMaker

buy quicken willmakerDid your mother tell you there would be days like this? Days when you had to think and do something about the real issues of being a responsible adult. Wills. Living Trusts. Health Care Powers of Attorney. Living Wills. Do Not Resuscitate Orders. All of those topics we would never like to think about…right?  Well, unfortunately, we’ve learned from personal experience that not thinking about them is not an option. So, as our dear departed mother used to say, “suck it up and get it done.”  And, don’t be thinking you’re “too young.”  If you are reading this, you aren’t too young.

While it is a difficult task, Quicken WillMaker Plus does make it as easy and quick as possible. Here are the highlights of the software package…and, yes, go ahead and buy the software so you can update as your circumstances change (other sites that offer documents for downloading will charge you each time you use the service):

  • Your Will: Provide for family, friends and charities. Name a personal guardian to care for young children. Specify the executor (or personal representative) of your estate. Select a trusted person to manage property left to young people. Revise and update it whenever you like.
  • Your Living Trust: Make a basic trust, whether you're married or single. If married, you can create an AB trust (or bypass trust) and spare your heirs from potentially heavy estate taxes. Create subtrusts for minor children and young adults. Name custodians for property left to children.
  • Health Care Power of Attorney: Permit a loved one to make important medical decisions for you if you are unable to do so yourself.
  • Living Will: Specify whether you want your life prolonged through artificial means.
  • Note: Your documents will automatically reflect the laws of your state.

Once you get it done, just know that your mother would be proud!
