Australia

Who says they don’t make ‘em like they used to?

Director Baz Luhrmann’s latest epic, Australia, serves up a chunk of nostalgia with all the beautiful elements we loved from films of the 40s and 50s – breathtaking sweeping landscapes, gorgeous costumes and fine actors. The storyline could have been swiped from 50 years ago, too - a romantic action-adventure set in pre-WWII Australia and the tale of an English aristocrat who inherits a large ranch. When English cattle barons plot to take the land, she reluctantly joins forces with a rough-hewn cattle driver to protect the ranch.

Of course, you know how it’s going to end. Watching Australia is like eating at your favorite restaurant. You know what you’re getting, and that’s why you love it so much. If you want to spend a few hours being totally entertained and steeped in nostalgia, this is the movie for you...and did we mention the eye-candy factor in the form of Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman?

Enjoy!
